NLSO NW Advisory on the Evacuation of U.S. Personnel from Japan

The Department of Defense has authorized voluntary evacuation of dependents from the island of Honshu, Japan and suspended all dependent travel to the area. The military installation in Yokosuka is on the island of Honshu. The evacuees will potentially be transported from Japan to one of three locations: Los Angeles, Seattle or San Francisco. We should anticipate that many evacuees could potentially arrive in the area of Naval Base Kitsap.

Naval Legal Service Office Northwest will be standing by to assist servicemembers and dependents arriving in the Northwest with legal assistance issues pertaining to the tsunami and evacuation, including immigration issues, loss of or damage to personal property from the earthquake, tsunami or radiation contamination.

For those needing immediate assistance, please call the following number: 360-471-1336
